Clay Creature
This project and the painting project overlapped so we could get all the painting done at one time. For this project we were given a slab of clay and told to make a animal doing something. This animal could be fiction or real. I decided to do something real, but make it doing something it wouldn't do. This purple clay elephant is what was created.
Preliminary Designs
Clay Creature Reflection (11-D): March 26, 2012.
1. The good/strong parts of my sculpture was the creativity because not a lot of people would've made an elephant laying down.
2. I think I could've done a better job with the texture and detail of the elephant because he's kind of simple looking.
3. My creature was an elephant lying on the beach. I chose this becuase I thought it would be fun, creative, different, and I love elephants.
4. My creature is a fat elephant with huge ears, and he's long and low to the ground. The movement frozen in time was lying on the beach.
5. There is really only one texture on my elephant and that is a smooth, but rough texture. On the umbrella the texture was smooth.
6. From this project I learned that making something beautiful doesn't happen in one day. To do something right you need to start out right.
7. At the beginning of this project I was going to make a boring elephant on all fours then I wanted it to be more like a cartoon, so I changed it because I thought it would be more fun.
8. I thought this project was fun because you had a lot of freedom and combined clay, painting, and drawing.
