Thematic Painting
For our second to last project we did a thematic painting. We used the same eight themes that we used eariler this year for our thematic drawings: Love, Emotion, Abstract, War/Peace, Nature, Illusion, and Portraits.
Preliminary Designs
I had four preliminary designs for this project. I had the guitar and LOVE pictures along with a rose and mountains
Thematic Painting Reflection (12-D): April 20, 2012
1.I think I did a good job at blending colors because in both paintings I was able to making interesting colors and used almost no paint colors straight out of the bottle.
2. I think I could've done a better job on the sketching of the guitar because I personally think it doesn't look very well.
3. My theme for the original painting was a guitar. I chose this becasue I really love music. My second theme is four girls making the word "love" with their bodies. I don't really know why I chose this.
4. In my first painting the some of the colors were brown, purple, and white. I thought that these main three colors would be a good contrast with each other. In my exceeding painting I used warm colors for the background and black for the silhouette because I really like silhouettes.
5. For the guitar I think the emphsis is the strings because your eyes go to those right away becasue they are white and the rest of the painting is a lot of dark colors. In the second painting I think the emphsis are the people becuase again, they stand out from the color contrast.
6. One thing I learned from this project that is at the little details count. If you leave something out it might not look a beautiful.
7. Neither of these painting were really planned and I pretty happy with them.
8. I really enjoyed this project with all the freedom we had, but I think it would be better to have a bigger canvas.
